After Saturday’s heavy rain showers the skies cleared and we had fair conditions to contest the Tucson CX race on Sunday. It was a tight course requiring lots of accelerating. Not far after the start Kyle, Jake, and I were able to get a gap. I tried to keep the pace high so that RideClean team tactics wouldn’t conspire. About four or five laps into the race Jake attacked at the top of the run up so I chased his wheel as quickly as possible. I was able to gap Kyle in the process and when Jake eased up, I simply kept the hammer down. Kyle followed about 10 seconds behind me for the next five laps but finally the margin became more comfortable and I was able to put it on cruise control to the finish. Somewhere along the way Jake managed to flat so he out of any option to pursue…

I’ve started working full time at our CTS Tucson office and so far things have gone smoothly. It ought to be a great opportunity to develop my coaching skill and experience while taking on a bit more responsibly. Of course I’ll continue to train and race, I’ll just have to be a bit more creative as to how I fit that into the schedule. I’m excited for all that is to come as I transition into the new role.

State CX is on Sunday and so far the have been four different winners of the four AZ Cross events thus far. It ought to make for a good showdown!  -TJ
