Aside from the cyclocross racing/riding as of late, I haven’t done a whole lot of training on the road. It seems that the quality intensity did the trick as much of the fitness seems to be sticking around alright. Saturday was my first shootout ride since March and I felt pretty good out there. We had some nice rotations going that kept everybody honest and narrowed the front group down to eleven guys. Tim and Sayers each put in some hard digs, while I saved mine for the last pitches of the climb when I could put it to best use, ‘winning’ the group ride in the process. The shootout makes for about 45 minutes of race quality intensity built within the three hour loop. Sunday I followed it up with an out and back group ride to Mammoth. We started with twelve and ended with six in the group as half opted for a more modest pace on the return. This ride makes for 4700ft of climbing and 98 miles. We did it under five hours with a lot of tempo pace. All in all, a good weekend of training on the roads here in Tucson.
Thursday night I’ll be headed home to Wisconsin for Christmas break and I’m hoping to put some K’s into the skis - its been a couple years… Congrats to everyone who tore up CX Nats! Marko, Tristan, and Sarah all put on some great performances. Over and out, -TJ

What’s up Scruff? How have you been doing? It’s good to see that you are still riding hard. Hit me up some time. I left you my email address.
